Environmental Commitment
At Obsidian, we recognise that sustainable development must go hand in hand with social and community progress. All projects we support are required to comply with the UK’s planning legislation and national policy frameworks, which now embed stringent environmental standards and low-carbon targets. This means development proposals must address climate change resilience, energy efficiency, biodiversity net gain, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), and greenhouse gas emissions mitigation.
In practice, this commitment translates into expecting that all new developments deliver measurable reductions in carbon footprint, incorporate green infrastructure (such as tree planting and habitat creation), utilise renewable energy technologies where possible, ensure water efficiency, and promote sustainable mobility (e.g. walking and cycling paths as well as access to public transport).
Through this approach, Obsidian Strategic ensures that environmental stewardship is integral across all our projects, rather than an afterthought.
Community and Inclusion
Our approach to land promotion focuses on creating well-designed and complementary communities. We undertake effective and meaningful engagement with stakeholders through the life of the project, address concerns, and enhance local communities by providing essential amenities, including high-quality play areas, GP surgeries and schools alongside attractive and accessible public open space.
We are committed to including affordable housing in every development, making our communities accessible to all demographics and fostering inclusivity.
