New Housing Minister Appointed (8th in Eight Years)

Kit Malthouse Conservative Member of Parliament for North West Hampshire has been promoted to the post of Housing Minister following the promotion of Dominac Raab MP to the post of Minister for Exiting the European Union.

Malthouse becomes the eighth Housing Minister in the last eight years and is charged with driving the Government’s housing agenda.  Amongst the Minister’s first immediate duties is to announce and lead on the expected revision to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) which is expected to be published in late July.  The revised NPPF itself is expected to set out how the Government expects homebuilders and Local Planning Authorities will deliver a step change in housing delivery including affordable housing. The guidance is also expected to formalise and standardise how housing need is to be assessed across England.
