The new Housing Minister, Esther McVey MP, made her inaugural keynote speech at RESI Convention 2019. Ms McVey, who explained that she was brought up in a Bernardo’s home and thereafter Council Housing, said that delivering decent well-designed homes for everyone was a real passion of hers and that she would strive to ensure that the Government’s ambitious target of 300,000 new homes per annum is achieved. She did, however, acknowledge that Brexit planning had led to delays in bringing forward further planning and housing legislation.
