Planning secured in Elmbridge

Obsidian has secured a resolution to grant detailed planning permission from Elmbridge BC planning committee for 27 units in the metropolitan Green Belt on a key gateway site on the edge of Cobham, in Surrey. The scheme will redevelop a previously-developed largely impermeable site with a range of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom homes together with gardens, significant new tree planting and areas of landscape buffering and new habitat areas to enhance biodiversity.

The Councils’ Planning Committee accepted the acute need for smaller units and full affordable provision comprising 11 affordable units gave the application substantial weight in the planning determination process. Councillors also recorded their appreciation of the schemes’ design principles which takes its influence from the local design vernacular.

This was an extremely challenging and technically complex site and we worked very closely with a strong team of professionals including; Strutt & Parker, Thrive Architects, Glanville Consultants, Local Dialogue, Savills Heritage, Enplan Landscape, and Aspect Ecology.
